Nicaragua - La Escondida
Nicaragua is a new origin to us and we couldn't be happier than to start by working with this washed Catuai from Mario José Vilchez. With flavors of red grapes, peach juice, honey, and chamomile this coffee is a great fit for all brewing methods.

Mario José Vilchez's road to specialty coffee begins from the Nicaraguan civil war 1979 when he had to flee to the neighboring USA. When he returned 15 years later to see if there was a chance to build something durable back home he found this small piece of land off the beaten track. Hidden among virgin forests, far from prying eyes of the main road, he named the farm Finca la Escondida (meaning "hidden" in Spanish).
Mario José had always been interested in coffee and this land brought the idea back. He started working with his new farm in order to cultivate quality coffee. Years later and Mario is still strong in the game.
The region of Nueva Segovia is lush and the trees provide natural shade for the ripening coffee cherry. Mineral-rich volcanic soil boosts the complexity of the cup profile.
